Royal Rumble: Social Media Algorithms Forster Negative Towards Harry, Markle, and The UK Royals Expert Claims

In the era of social media, celebrities and royals alike face unprecedented levels of scrutiny. Among them, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Prince William have found themselves to be frequent targets of negativity on Twitter, but not necessarily by choice. Turns out, Twitter's algorithm appears to have a darker side, guiding users towards negative content based on their searched terms.

The algorithm's naughty list doesn't discriminate, even when it comes to the royals. Nicknaming this phenomenon as social media's 'royal rumble,' the 'suggestive search' mechanism tends to produce more 'anti-fan' sentiments than anything else. Critically eyeing this trend is Christopher Bouzy, Bot Sentinel's knight-in-digital-armour, who walked Newsweek through the process.

Mr. Bot Sentinel, aka Bouzy, explains that the algorithm 'believes' that the negative content is what people are yearning to see. So, when you type 'Meghan,' 'Harry,' or any other royals' names into the search box, the digital genie auto-fills with negative suggestions. The eerie part is that these aren't your everyday critique - some of these terms are so malicious they fall under the category of 'unprintable by respectable news outlets'.

While the digital world grapples with this issue, it's also surfacing conspiracy theories that question the mental health of the royal children and opening doors to potential libel cases if converged into mainstream media. In Bouzy's words, 'My opinion is, it has to be fixed.'

Twitter's algorithm, it seems, has found itself in something of a royal pickle. While it may be designed to cater to the tastes of its users, it's worth questioning when those tastes veer into dangerous territory. This is a fight that digital knight Bouzy - and many like him - has been desperately trying to bring to light, yet often feels like 'screaming into the void.'
