Prince William and Kate Middleton politely decline wedding invitation attends Jordan's royal ceremony instead
Prince William and Kate Middleton, known as the Prince and Princess of Wales, consistently have a packed itinerary. Given their commitments towards royal duties, the couple had to regretfully turn down a wedding invitation from a royal admirer, Katie Baddock, in April 2023. Thomas Claridge, the head of royal correspondence, responded on their behalf, expressing their gratitude for the invitation and extending wishes for a memorable wedding day. Baddock shared the thoughtful royal response on her social media, prompting fans to express admiration for the royal couple's kindness and consideration. While fans were excited about the royal response, they also contemplated what the fan's reaction would have been had the royals turned up. To this, Baddock humorously conceded that she would have likely 'fainted'.
Despite being unavailable for Baddock's wedding, the royal couple made their presence felt at another significant event around the same time. In June, they attended the royal wedding of Jordan's Crown Prince Hussein and his bride, Princess Rajwa. For the occasion, Kate looked elegant in a blush pink dress by Elie Saab, accessorized with morganite earrings and a clutch bag. William donned a navy suit and a blue patterned tie. The couple shared a couple of snapshots from the event on their shared Instagram account, to the delight of their followers.
Both William and Kate have a deep connection with Jordan. Kate's family lived in Amman during the 1980s, and the couple previously took a family vacation in the Middle East country. William also holds ties with the Jordanian royal family, enjoying a warm relationship with Crown Prince Hussein.
