Harry and Meghan Owe All Their Fame to The Royal Family After Explosive Documentary
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a documentary for Netflix detailing their time in the Royal Family, with one expert suggesting they 'owe their fame' to The FirmMeghan Markle and Prince Harry "owe all of their fame" to the Royal Family after "spilling the secrets" of The Firm, according to a public relations expert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke streaming records with their dramatic Netflix docuseries, titled Harry & Meghan. In the show, the couple made a number of bombshell claims about their time in the Royal Family.
Harry detailed the breakdown of his relationship with his brother Prince William and claimed he was left terrified after William shouted at him during the Sandringham summit. Meghan also bravely opened up about her mental health struggles during her time in The Firm.
Public relations expert Ryan McCormick said Meghan and Harry should have "capitalised" off the success of their Netflix series. He added: "These two individuals are most well known for spilling the secrets of the Royal Family (to which they owe all their fame and wealth)."
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'owe their fame' to the Royal FamilySpeaking to The Express, the Goldman McCormick Public Relations co-founder added: "If they had capitalised on the momentum during peak interest with the launch of their Spotify podcast (which they blundered), a fashion line, some type of educational membership course, or something similar; Harry and Meghan could have attained a higher level of prestige."
His comments come amid rumours Harry and Meghan are actually stepping further away from the Royal Family. The couple have reportedly spent $3.8million (£3million) to secure the rights to produce a new film for Netflix.
The movie, based on the bestselling novel Meet Me at the Lake, is thought to be getting produced by the couple as part of their $112million (£87.7million) deal with the streaming service. The book has proven to be a hit with readers, selling 37,000 copies in its first week alone.
They're thought to be making moves in HollywoodThe story, written by author Carley Fortune, focuses on a couple who fall in love in their 30s and deals with themes of childhood trauma and post-natal depression. For Meghan and Harry fans, one of the most standout plot points in Meet Me at the Lake is the death of a parent in a car crash.
Harry was 12-years-old when his mother Princess Diana died in the same circumstances at the age of 36 in 1997. The film is said to be the next stage of the couple's deal with Netflix. There had been speculation that the exclusive partnership was under threat, but a spokesman for the streaming service set the record straight.
In a statement, they said: "The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date. Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon.
"We're currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus." The Heart of Invictus series is due to air on the streaming service this month.
