Prince William and Meghan Markle's Biographer: An Unseen Tiff Amid Royalty
Prince William, the future king, is no stranger to the tricky business of holding grudges in the royal circles. It appears he shares more than just genes with his father, King Charles, who is known for his own instances of royal feuds. One such simmering irritation for Prince William is reportedly geared towards Omid Scoobie, one of Meghan Markle's biographers.
'Finding Freedom', a book by Omid Scoobie was released in 2020 and seemingly crossed wires with William due to certain details it encompassed. Allegedly, the strain was so severe that William was keen on barring Scoobie from any royal events.
Scoobie mentions in an op-ed promoting his upcoming release on the Royal Family that, 'Sources told me that Prince William was so incensed by my revelations that his Kensington Palace team had given negative information to favoured journalists about his brother that he wanted me barred from his engagements.'
One particular revelation in Scoobie's book that might have perturbed the future king was an instance where Prince William allegedly pulled aside his younger brother Harry to discuss his relationship with Markle. 'Don't feel you need to rush this,' reads the book pertaining to William's alleged advice, 'Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.'
Surprisingly, despite penning a detailed book about the royal couple, Scoobie notes that he doesn't maintain any intimate relation with Harry and Markle. He clarified during the privacy lawsuit Markle faced in court and Prince Harry's testimony against phone hacking, 'I don't have his [Prince Harry's] phone number, I have never socialised with him,' he was reported to have said
Given the animosity towards Scoobie, it raises speculation on how Prince William interacts with those who have significantly wronged him. As we keep our eyes peeled for any hint of behavioural change from the future King William, it's a bitter-sweet reminder of the intense scrutiny and magnified personal feuds inside the monarchy. Scoobie's next book, 'Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival' seems to promise more such revelations when it's released on Nov. 21, 2023.
