The succession to the throne in the British royal family is clearly regulated. Even at his birth, it was clear that Prince George would be crowned king in the distant future. However, a well-known expert doesn't quite believe that.

Prince George just celebrated 10th birthday. We will all have to wait a while before seeing him hold the scepter of the British crown in his hand. However, according to journalist Clive Irving, it might not come to that.

At the moment, the young royal can let his mind wander. Like many other children, Prince George is currently enjoying some well deserved time off school for the summer break. Moreover, Prince George is the second in line to the throne, leaving him plenty of time before becoming King of England.

Even though, the death of Queen Elizabeth II moved the royal succession line up a step, Prince George is still not close to sitting on the throne. Currently, his grandfather, King Charles III is on it and, after his death, it will be up to Prince William to take on the regal position. Only if Prince Williams dies or abdicates, will his son George access the throne before his due time.

However, if it were up to the nobility expert Clive Irving, George would never find himself as King.

As reportedby T-Online, Irving is said to make the assumption not only because of the possibility of long reigns by his grandfather and father, but also because of certain geopolitical circumstances that may play a major role in the preservation of the British Royal Family in the future.

If he has to wait as long as his grandfather, Charles III, he would become king in 2086. So his chances are close to zero - for many reasons. By then, the United Kingdom will have dissolved and Scotland will be independent. A so-called constitutional monarchy would then no longer make sense.


Moreover, as The Guardian reported atthe end of April 2023, the country's own population seems to regard the Royal Family as less and less important. In a survey, 45% of people reportedly felt the royals were either not important and some of them even favored abolishing the monarchy.

Time will tell what happens next for the British Royal Family and Prince George. Will the Prince ever be King?
